Ford House is a distinctly country garden that has evolved over a 124-year-old homestead with extensive riverside gardens.  Ford House is a country garden that has evolved over this extended time span. Trees range from old English oaks, Bunya pine and many deciduous trees. The layering of autumn colour is stunning. The Blackwood River in all its magnificence makes a wonderful tranquil backdrop.

 

The Bridgetown Garden Fair will be on Sunday 26 April 8.30am to 3 30pm will be held at Ford House year where plant specialists will have their plants and expertise available. Garden related products and delicious food and refreshments for everyone's enjoyment.

No entry fee except on day of Garden Fair.

 

We have an extensive bed and breakfast, a beautiful gift and homewares store and two toilets.

CHERRYTREE COTTAGE  192

 

Cherrytree Cottage is on a sloping block which has been terraced. It has sweeping views across the town and surrounding countryside. There are established front, side and back gardens with roses, camellias and a wide variety of cottage plants. In the back garden as well as vegetable gardens there are rose gardens, many varieties of salvias, weigela and hibiscus.  These plantings are intermingled with fruit trees including 7 cherry trees, figs, quince, oranges, mandarins, peaches, pears, nectarines, apricots, plums, persimmon, lemon, lime, hazelnut and almond trees. There are maples and other trees with autumn colours. There are approximately 320 roses in the front, back and side gardens.

 

This is a sloping block with steps, handrails and ramps. Wear sturdy shoes. Complimentary tea & coffee available on the verandah. Park front end in on verge in Barlee & Dean Streets.

THE TERRACES 181

A stunning hillside garden with fabulous uninterrupted views. Allow plenty of time to explore the two-acre garden which has been landscaped and terraced. There are lots of level paths, steps and seating areas to admire the scenery whilst exploring the garden. The garden near the house has areas of lawn with floral beds, including bulbs, azaleas, roses and lavender. There are many fruit trees, exotic trees, native trees and shrubs dotted throughout the garden. The terraced beds are all planted with an assortment of interesting species. There are lower rose terraces that can be admired from a deck area halfway down the garden. Sensible walking shoes are recommended.

From SW Highway turn into Steere St. At the end turn right into Giblett St. At T junction, turn left into Turner Rd. Follow the 3km winding road until you reach Bridgetown Gardens Estate and turn right into the Estate. Follow the road and Maple View is the third turning on the right. We welcome you to our extensive gardens providing numerous sheltered picnic areas on 3 acres of meandering pathways, small bridges, waterways and gardens. There’s also a small climb up to the dam which provides a glorious vista of our neighborhood.
